Know Your Target – I’m sure you have heard it before, you can’t hit a target you don’t aim for! If you are not clear about the results that you want you will always struggle. Period. Unless you set very specific goals and targets you will have no way of finding the route to success. Far too many entrepreneurs set out with vague goals and plans and then wonder why they do not get the results they expected.
Decide exactly what you want to achieve. Whether you are trying to set goals for traffic generation, sales conversions, opt-in rates, or simply to make money, be as specific as possible about the results that you want. In other words, instead of stating your goal as simply an increase over your old numbers, state exactly what you want the increase to be.
- Don’t just try to beat last years sales figures…
- DO set an exact dollar amount that you are going to achieve this year.
- Don’t hope that traffic will increase by itself…
- DO set specific traffic numbers that you expect to receive using the strategies you’ve chosen.

Every goal that you set, every dream that you want to create, really involves a series of smaller steps or changes that you must take or create. You have to be willing to take each of those steps.

- What will I have to change in order to take that first step?
- After I reach that first step, what do I have to do next?
If you take the time to break your goals down now, you will never be surprised when a step comes up that you are not looking forward to. You will know that it is coming. You can make a plan now to deal with it.

When you apply these strategies to your own goal setting process you will boost your results simply by becoming more clear about your actual targets and knowing exactly what is required to achieve them.
